Blaupunkt's Casablanca CD DigiCeiver
Has Superior Radio Reception and Ear-Pleasing EQ

Blaupunkt has introduced its new Casablanca CD51 car stereo CD receiver, which offers:

  • near-satellite-quality radio sound from conventional FM broadcasts,
  • excellent CD performance,
  • and a digital equalizer that can make any car's audio system sound better.

The Casablanca CD51 also has an automatic speed-sensitive volume control, auxiliary input for an MP3 player, and an attractive titanium-look front panel with exceptional ergonomics.

The Casablanca CD51 represents the latest evolution of Blaupunkt's exclusive DigiCeiver digital signal processing (DSP) technology for radio reception and sound management. The Blaupunkt DigiCeiver includes the world's only all-truly digital AM/FM radio. All other so-called "digital tuners" use digital circuits merely to generate analog reference signals for analog tuners. However, DigiCeiver converts the radio signal into digital data so it can be manipulated by a DSP. This improves reception and fidelity at greater distances from the broadcast antenna, while greatly reducing interference and static.

The Casablanca's sound management capabilities are equally remarkable. A five-band digital parametric equalizer (DEQ can be used to compensate for car-induced tonal anomalies, or to modify the car¹s acoustic signature). With third-octave spacing across the audio spectrum and up to seven possible center frequencies within each band, the DEQ can create an almost infinite variety of equalization curves. There are also preset car acoustic compensation curves for a roadster, four-door sedan, convertible, van, compact car, or pickup truck, and optimized preset  curves for jazz, classical, pop, rock, techno, and speech. Additionally, there are three high-cut settings, plus traditional bass, treble, balance, and fader controls.

The Casablanca CD51 also has Blaupunkt's GALA speed dependent automatic volume control to eliminate the need to adjust the volume control when you change driving speed. GALA gradually reduces the volume level as the car slows down, and raises it as the car speeds up.

The Casablanca has:

  • a powerful 4 x 50-Watt amplifiers,
  • a 4-Volt, low-impedance preamp output,
  • a separate subwoofer output controlled by the DEQ,
  • and a six-level loudness control.

The CD player uses Blaupunkt's BP-4 CD deck -- a roller-less, damper-less CD drive where nothing touches the label and reading surface. The Casablanca CD51 has control capability for all current Blaupunkt CD changers, including the in-dash, five-disc IDC-A09.

This receiver has two auxiliary inputs; one for the CD changer and a second that can be fitted with remote jack for connecting other sources like MP3, CD, or audio cassette players.

Like most Blaupunkt CD receivers, the Casablanca is compatible with an optional Thummer steering wheel remote control. This radio is designed for easy installation using DIN or ISO mountings, and it has a removable DIN trim ring.  The Casablanca has an appealing silver faceplate and multicolored LCD display.
