Revive the Forum

Hey 1388, this forum is quite dead, I think you should revamped the forum, the problem is it takes some time before the message is posted and I think you vet through the post before posting it, sometimes it is rewrited in a way that the poster himself doesn`t mean it that way. Why not a forum in the form of the audioasylum, no correcting of english grammars or editing any of the message, post it as it is, don`t worry about flamers or trolls come to think of it thats what this forum needs and thats when the fun begins, anyway what I meant is that a forum is a place inviting others to post their views it might not be politically correct or it may even be singlish so be it. Hope you consider my suggestion because your website started with a bang but now it is quite dead except for the occasional articles.

Dear Samual, thank you for your suggestion and we shall really look into this matter seriously.

I admitted that our forum section is pretty 'dead' and perhaps sooner or later we must follow the trend and provide an interactive one. At the moment I still couldn't make up my mind whether it is a wise move or not.

As 1388.com is basically an audio ezine mainly emphasising on articles, we have been focusing our attention in this area. We would love to do more if we can but we are limited by our resources.

The idea of interactive is great as participants can communicate and share information freely, I love it. However, for the past few months whenever I visited other's forum and saw that some users abused some forum by posting irrevelant and personal messages instead of messages related to the specific topic, I hesitate.

Anyway we will figure out a nicer way to serve you and our readers better...

At the moment we are facing a tough time, we are trying very hard to sell our BIT88 to various countries. I am sorry that we might have neglected our website to a certain extent. We are planning to reform and invite someone to take care of the site in the new future, if financially allowed, and we shall definitely make our site 100% interactive. Please understand that a good modulator is necessary for any audio interactive forum, especially in Singapore...

By the way, we never re-write and alter the poster's original meaning. Yes, we corrected spelling mistakes, formats and slightly on grammar (not always)...

Thanks for replying, now what the forum really needs is you, because your knowledge on hi-fi is enormous and you write really well though you seldom write much article but it is really quality over quantity type of article, you are the local version of Sam Tellig with much more laughter in between. If you could be more active in this forum I think it will be more succesful. An audioasylum style of forum will be even better though your right on people posting irrelevant message but sometime those irrelevant message could be pretty interesting but these are pros and cons of having an interactive forum and finally how about segregating the forum into different subjects.

Joe, I think Samuel made a point. Forum is quite important as both a resource and reactions from readers. Interactive could invite better response and attraction. I know the downside and how you might be dancing on a high wire with an  interactive forum...but no pain no gain. A little bit of defence could be:

1. All messages MIGHT be moderated and the web owner reserves every right to moderate, amend or even delete message or thread when web owner considers inappropriate to appear on the forum.

 2. Still, state clearly on the forum page as this is an interactive forum, the web owner cannot monitor and moderate the contents 24 hours and thus the web owner is not responsible for any possible or potential damage arising from any postings. No posting represents standpoint or view of the site or the web owner. With the foregoing, you should have put some form of cork to cover up yourself from......just my 2cents and I ain't no lawyer and take my advice with a grain of salt.

Joe, I think Ben hits the points. Interactive Forum can make the website becomes more active. Of course, it must be careful on handling some postings that may be harmful. However 1388 can delete the harmful one within 24 hours and make some standpoint / announcement.

Interactive Forum is still a good selling point.....
