My pioneer PDR-509 recordable cd player refuses to recognize more and more of my discs (pre-recorded or home recorded) and I can now only play about three discs. However it will play perfectly once it accepts the disc. I know that soon it will refuse to recognize these three. Has anyone heard of a similar problem or know what the problem is?

Hi,
The problem may due to dirty lens, u need to purchase a disc cleaner that is designed for cleaning CD lens safely. The lens in the CD recorder is more sensitive as it needs to read and write to a blank disc. Keep away from dust by putting cover on it when not in use. Hope this helps.
