Joe, are you a TV presenter?

Hi Kim,

I am gradually becoming 1388's regular visitor these days, as I did enjoy the cheerful content in the site. That day is my first visit in 1388.com, I did drop down some ideas or comments for the site, from my perspective as a not-so-experience web designer. I do have a lot of suggestions but not intend to tell you all, am worried that 1388.com designers and management will curse me...

I would like to bring this up, as I enter every page in the site, I was "blocked" by "huge" image (look huge to me), I am impressed by the nice design of the images, it did illustrate what the category of page is about (for eg the reviews or directories), but the image size (am talking about the "physical size") is big and make me scroll down to read the content or menu which is located down the page. This is tiring for my fingers....and I believe long scroll page is bad for the site. Try to keep the image or titled image smaller, siding at the top right or left or center of the page, this allow visitors to see some contents immediately they get in the first page of the catergory. Also, this will save on the image file size, and decrease the download time.

There is no return to top for most of the page, if I forget what I read just now, (bad memory due to aging...), I need to scroll up again, maybe good finger exercise, but I am afraid there will be wrinkles coming out in my fingers..

There are some more to come, but I am afraid that will end up in a series of report..but seriously, I just hope to see some improvement on these, though is just minor-minor problem, or you  may not consider as a problem at all, but perfect the site constantly is necessary and reasonable.

Of course, generally there are good sight that I see in the site, such as, humourous language in either Chinese or English, too noticed, there are highlighting in words within long sentences or blocks of paragraphs, in enlarging the text size or colouring, this helps in highlighting the important point or heart of the content to the visitor by one glance, and get the visitors attention as fast as possible, is a good attempt. This is helpful especially when the paragraphs is "huge". People are lazy to read, especially online. Furthermore, the answering session is humourous and is rarely seen in web site (at least in Singapore). I think Joe Lee can try to take up jobs like TV presenter or performer, ever think of it before? Or he is already one?

Will continue to visit the site, and if  times allows (or you allow?) I will try sending in more comments.

Ok. I call it a mail here. Though I don't sound serious, but the abovementioned  is my serious comments, will be delight if you take it to heart (do not take it to dream). No offend?

Dear Su,

Thanks for your mail and your suggestions. I have decided to post your mail on this forum as your suggestions and comments are not only not lousy but most valuable to us. I hope all our members can continuously give us feedback and comments and this is the only way we can improve. I hope you don’t mind.

I will call a meeting with our team (team? sounds big, actually including me there are only 5 working in this office...) and see how we can improve further. In fact, one of our members, Suhaimi is helping us to design a new site to improve the efficiency. Your suggestions and opionions are most valuable to us and most welcomed...so long you don’t forget to say something good about me will do...

You said you are a 'not-so-experienced' web designer, that means you are a web designer, right? OK, I am looking for one or two more designers to join 1388 as we keep on expanding; forming new sections. Shit-pay, heavy workload...I wonder are you interested?

By the way, I must really welcome you to our big family of audiophiles. You are one of a handful of female audiophiles that I know. How is your system? I am always at your service.

Have a very nice day!

Hi Joe,

Thanks for your reply. I will continue to visit and support your site, as it is not easy to find a cheerful site in the wild-wild-web world, seriously.

I will constantly monitor your site (huh? sound arrogance? Who am I to montior? CPU or monitor? just  kidding...), but had spend some lunch break time and nights (sound noble right?) in browsing through your site. Do enjoy the articles, and dr hifi, keep up the good work. Will post some message to you if I find something frustrating...of course will praise 1388 if there is something good...

The site can be more cheerful, of course I understand 1388.com have its own web culture and way of working, just sharing what I feel as a visitor, and I will not give more comments before I really rated myself as an "old visitor" (old? really hate to use such term...) of 1388.

Wish you 1.3.8.8.

Su
