Happy Year 2001 and we wish you a very Prosperous Year ahead!

Four months has passed so quickly and 1388.com has been through a rough but growing time. It is not easy to start a new company especially at this age of rapid high technology development and severe competition! Also, Dot Com fever is dying. As such, I wish to express my gratefulness and thankfulness to all dear friends who has helped us so much and in so many ways! Ultimately, we hope we can all enjoy good friendships and good sound, whatever our systems are!

Year 2000 was a time of searching and also a time of trying out new concepts and new technologies. We are steadily heading towards our goals thru plans.

Audio has been the same since Thomas Edison invented the gramophone. It is still two channel audio, with some mechanical or electrical recording from passive air vibration. But technology has progressed so much. Computers are here to help. I believe in year 2001 we can introduce to you more products, that will put a smile on your face (and also save cash in your wallet).

BIT88

This is our product built from blood, sweat and tears. BIT88 shall be marketed soon in mid Feb. I hope all of you will support us. As the shipment is still coming in, I can only reveal to you the internal structures of the BIT88. It uses nostalgic tube technology, coupled with the latest DSP and Psycho acoustic advances developed in USA. The original board works so well, it make our humble system sounds much more enjoyable and impressive than any system selling ten times the cost. Home movie becomes almost lifelike, and of course there is a headphone circuit that can release the full potential of your expensive and highly advertise headphones.

But BIT88 is not something that is of cut throat price. It is designed to be affordable for any high school kids who is keen in computer games. Also for the young people who are into games. So gamers need to plug in the BIT88, and they will find themselves fully immersed in a three dimensional battle field, and no longer just Virtual Reality. To suite the gamer’s market, the price is of course very affordable!! But do not be folled by the price. Its performance is not gimmicky.

In a recent audio gathering in Singapore’s famous Echo Loft, BIT88 showed how it made a 4 watt system sounds even much better, more detailed, refined and more power. BIT88 Super Special

If you are really an hard core about audio, we have a BIT88 Super version installed. The selling price will of course be very much more expensive, as only selected premium components will be used. Here is a basic board of BIT88 Super.

Yes, golden contacts/ PCB tracks, OsCon caps, MIT caps, Fast recovery diodes, Vishay resistors, special edition IC modules, wonder silver solder and hand picked premium selected Mullard tubes, silver plated wound transformers, will be used, and all fine tuned to give maximum audio nirvana. It will be so expensive, we shall only take orders from discerning customers. Availability will start in April 2001, as special DSP modules need time to be selected.

BIT88 fo CAR AUDIO!

Of course, we are also working on a car version. We do listen to the radio a lot in the car. Fortunately, it is very easy to adapt the BIT88 in a car setup. We would like to introduce this product in the middle of 2001! If you are car audio enthusiast, please give us you comments! Yes, you can run tube audio in your car now. Isn’t it wonderful?

CLOCK TIMING!!

Since my last article on Pioneer PDS901 modification, I had modified more than 35 sets of CD, LC, DVD, VCD and more are coming. My Clock solution is a viable option over the current commercial CD CLOCK upgrades, which I feel is way too expensive ($450+!!). Here is a good news: we shall partner up with Millennium Audio of Malaysia to market the new 1388 Super Clock. It will have A PROPERLY MADE HIGH GRADE PCB, super Os Con caps, effective regulation and a low 1ppm clock, suitable for almost 99% of the players in the market.

The above is the first prototype which worked so well that I will keep it. The attractive point will be, the new clock’s selling price will be merely a cheap S$200. The availability of the 1388 Super Clock will from Feb 2001 onwards, and shall be featured in our e-shop and a special web page.
