Speaker cracking up! Dear Dr. Jon Wong, I need some help here. I currently have a Marantz SR-5000 AV receiver and a Toshiba 1200 DVD Player. I am using Jamo Contour 80 as my front speakers. However, the speakers cannot handle deep bass and will have crackling sounds at heavy bass. Is there anything I can do to overcome this? Any good front speakers for Home Theatre to recommend (budget $300)? I have a marantz SR-5000. I have consulted the manual and can't seem to find any connection for a subwoofer.I have the proper front, center and surround speakers already. Can you kindly help? Thanks, Edward |
Hello Edward! My assumption, is you have the bass setting fully cranked up? Turn it down. If there is no bass boost facility, then you are driving your speakers far too hard. I did recommend someone to buy a pair of KEF Cresta 1, let them lay on their sides and place the tweeters in the middle. Using the Cresta 1 seems to be much better sounding than many dedicated center speakers. I would suggest you add an active sub woofer than playing your speakers hard for bass. The Hsu Research series are worth a look, and they are not expensive. You do not need a sub woofer output for the Hsu sub woofer. The main speakers are treated like satellites and tap the connection from the sub woofer, and the sub connects directly to the main amplifier if I am not wrong. 26 Sep 2000 There is a sub-woofer RCA output at the rear of the Marantz SR-5000. Please check properly and you will find the output. Naga |
