Hello Simon! Thank you for your support! The LS3/5A was my favorite from 1980 to 1990. By then I was also in love with my Celestion SL600 and the SL60. However, today I will not go back to them anymore. Technology has changed, and they represent the sound of the 60s. No offense to the many users. LS3/5A was designed by BBC for mobile broadcast monitoring and is superb in the mid range. But today’s good speakers have long surpassed the performance of the LS3/5A. You already have an excellent sounding pre and power amplifier, but power is a limitation. You should look for speakers which are easy to drive. I am not sure if you are looking for something that is very mellow or something that has fast transients. If you want to continue with the BBC standards, have you listened to the latest BBC LS5/12? The Chord and Dynaudio make this speaker. They will present a totally different world to you. Since your budget allows spending up to a good amount, I would suggest you serious audition the Elec and HGP high performance speakers. Please listen to a few so that you have an overall picture. If possible, bring your power amplifier to audition the speakers. If possible, please keep a budget for the Audeince Au24 interconnect cables we are bringing in. They will push the performance many times more. Good luck! |
