Klyne Preamp Continued Dear Dr. Jon Wong, There are just another two holes behind and they're labelled "invert". unfortunately Klyne has closed down and I've lost the manuual. Can the two holes be used to add another power amp for biamping? And another question: I'm using the Teac VRDS 10SE and have been told it can be used as a CD transport. but what would the difference in sound be if I were to use a DAC? Better? Hifi Enthusiast |
Hello Hifi Enthusiast!
If it is labelled ‘invert’, then I suppose the output is the inverted phase output. You can of course use another power amplifier in this case. However, the output phase is inverted. But that is easy to solve, just invert the speaker terminals and you will get the correct phase. Why not you try out using the current setup? Check if the speaker is out of phase! The Teac 10SE is a good transport. However, there are some design flaws which I cannot write here. I used to rectify a few Teac 10SE. Open the casing (if you can) and you might be able to spot a few hald burnt resistors in the power supply sections. The original Teac uses the NJM5534 or 5532 type op-amp for output stages. The sound is very limited and restricted due to these op-amps. You can either modify the output, or add an outboard DAC. The outboard DAC should be a high quality type. |
