One side louder (another one again!) Dear Dr. Jon Wong, I just purchased an integrated amplifier and I realised that one side is louder than the other. This therefore also affects the soundstaging. Tried swapping cables, speaker position and speakers but the same thing still persists. Using a voltmeter to measure the amplifier speaker outputs provided the following results: (these were tested at various listening levels using XLO burn and test CD test tones)
What can be the reason of this? I changed a new set and the same thing happened. Simon |
Hi Simon,
If the ratio of the L and R channels remains the same at the same frequency but different level, then it may be the following: 1. There is something wrong wih you volume control. Easy, change it. 2. There is something wrong with the gain setting of you amp. Adjust the feedback/ gain resistor. Are you sure it is the amplifier? Have you swapped the source? If you say you changed the set and the same thing happened, could it be your CD player? Good luck. |
