AV setup has no bass

Dear Dr. Jon Wong,

I recently purchased Marantz SR5000AV with KEF Cresta 2 as main, Tannoy Mc as my center and JBL xli as my surround speakers which also included KEF 30b for the subwoofer. My problem arise when i started playing cd player and tuner mode, I found that the bass is non- existing, while the treble too much hissingsound arise in the surround and by-pass mode. Could it be caused by mismatching of the amp. and the speakers or could it be caused by other mean. Can you help me with my problem. Thank you. Best regards and may god bless you.

Hello Jasmani!

Your setup should sound impressive and not as what you described.

If you have followed the instructions as in the users’ manual, then the situation which you described should not happen. Is your setup sounding OK in any mode? If your setup sounded OK in, say, cinema mode, that means all the speakers are properly connected. Otherwise, please kindly check all the settings again. Follow the instruction manual rigorously. If it still cannot improve anything, do give the agent a call.
