S$500 for a Turntable

Dear Doc,

I am looking for a new turntable, my budget is about $500 w/o cartridge, and would spend another $200 for a cartridge. On market what brand can I consider and where can I get them. Please help! Thanks a million!

Dear John!

Which type of music you like? For the budget, you might have to look at more basic models for a turntable that comes with arm. You can consider a CEC turntable and the Denon MC cartridge. The total cost might stretch your budget, but the result is excellent.

Alternatively, you can consider used turntables such as Thorens which can be excellent value for money.

Why not consider a secondhand turntable?
