Too many choices

Dear Doctor,

Shortlisted the following speakers after much looking around and wonder what is your take. My room size is about 19(l) X 13(w) X 8(h) in feet. Setup will be on the short side of the room. With the Jadis DA 60 (60 Watts of tube power)...I am thinking of

• Diapason Adamantes II
• Harbeth HP3
• Maggies 1.6QR
• Joseph Audio RM 22i

Or

Take ownership of a Gryphon Antileon to match

• Joseph Audio RM 25i
• Maggies 3.6QR or older 3.X
• Manger Zero box 109
• Merlins VSM

How? Game to rate? Other suggestions are very welcome.

I would like to know a bit more. Your room is pretty big (250sf) for small speakers. It is wise to set up on the short side as there are not many speakers that can accommodate 19 ft width and still can create excellent soundstage, unless we are talking about those gigantic speakers. I am a bit worry about using one set of Jadis DA60. It's not the amplifier that does not match the speakers you have mentioned. It is the size of the room.

Perhaps you can sketch the furniture layout for me to have a better understanding of your room? Besides, what are the other components?

Sorry I couldn't answer your question more precisely at this point. However, I have a feeling that Diapason Adamantes III with 91db/W/m high efficiency seems pretty good match with Jadis 60. Personally I like the look of the speakers very much. By the way, do you like classical music?

Joseph Audio 22i is floor standing and it should deliver better spaciousness and better bass. But how does it go with Jadis 60? Gryphon Antileon seems a better match as it is high current, class A (up to 40W) output. But...once you have try living with valve amplifers, is there a return?
