auric illuminator - Do it right?! Dear Dr Jon, Today I went down to get the Auric Illuminator from Audio 88. The shop person showed me one CD that's treated with it. The gel is smeared onto the surface like lacquer, sweeping outwards from the center of the cd. The end result shows the cd full of haze with many uneven smears from the dried-up gel. I gather the lens would have more trouble picking up informations from a cd treated in that manner, let alone improving the sound quality. Steve |
Hello Steve,
This is how I do it: 1. Make sure the CD/ DVD is clean, free of dirt, oil or finger marks. 2. Drop three droplets of auric illuminator on the CD surface, carefully. 3. Gentle rub from inner ring towards the other ring (honestly, a lot of people would simply rub in circles lah!) 4. Gently rub until the gel disappears and the CD surface is clean and shiny again. If it is hazy, remove by gentle rubbing again. 5. If the surface looks uneven, apply and rub again. You are right, it must be FREE OF HAZE. Actually, I have yet apply the gel until there is Haze appearing. Could it be from the previous treatment? Or there just had been too much gel poured onto the CD? The gel cannot possibly make an old, worn and scratched surface looks news again. However, rubbing the gel should not make the CD look horrible!! Hope you enjoy the awesome effects! |
