6N1, 6922 and 6DJ8

Dear Dr Jon,

Glad for knowing that 6N1 tube can replace 6922 or 6DJ8, and it sounds much Hi Fi than the latter ones.

As per the publications issued by William Smith and Barry Buchanan in 1992, the 6N1 tube is listed there. I couldn't find further info of this tube. Is the 6N1 tube a new product made in recent years?

Is the mentioned 6N1 referring to the latest 6N1-P (6H1-P) from both manufactures "Russia-Voshkod" and "Svetlana"? And, may I know which other brands/manufacturers are available too at the moment.

Many thanks

Joseph

Hello Joseph,

The 6N1 is around for some years already. It is in places like China/Russia there are wider tube selections. Also, new tube types are being developed.

6DJ8 and 6922 are getting lesser. I understand that certain manufacturers are using less of such tubes. Please note that there are also 6N2, and 6N3 but their pin connection is slightly different.

Currently, we have premium type tubes selected from China. They are one of the best. I believe the Svetlana type is from China, as the construction and appearance is rather similar.

Thank you for the information supplied!
