Marantz tracking problem

Dear Dr. Jon Wong,

My system consists of:

  • CDP/LP: Marantz CD63SE
  • Pre/Power: Yamaha RX-V496 AVR
  • Speakers: Mirage FRX-7
  • Cables: Audio image spk cable
  • Room Size: living rm
  • Music Preference: any music

My marantz cd player has a problem. It cannot detect any CD when I first switch on in the morning. I need to turn it on for around 5 minutes, then then turn it off again. After this when I switch on the power, the player can play any cd normally. But when I turn it on in the afternoon, the player is not able to detect the CD and play normally.

Peals tell me what is the problem of my cd player. Thanks

Jason

Hello Jason,

It sounds like your player suffers from moisture or humidity problem.

Also, it could be one of the contacts that is bad and heating it up makes the player function properly.

There is one solution: leave your player turned on permanently for a least a few days, and see if this problem goes away. If it does not, remove the cover and power. Try to uplug and plug in the several cables and sockets in the player. See if this helps. If it still does not go away, send your player for service.

Some Marantz players do suffer from this problem, unfortunately.
