Rotel 980BX and Muse

Dear Dr. Jon Wong,

My system is made up of:

• CDP/LP: Rotel 951
• Pre/Power: Pre-amp Rotel 980BX (Integreated) & Power amp Muse mono blk
• Speakers: Phase Technology P80
• Cables: Interconnect & speakers cables : Hisago
• Room Size: 15 x 10
• Music Preference: new age, musical

Recently I bought a pair of Muse Model one hundred fifty mono-blocks (150 watt/block). My question is whether the Rotel RB980BX is good enough to be used as Pre-amp for MUSE mono blocks. From the above setup, can u identify what/ where are the weak points that can be improved further with your advice.

I would appreciate it if you could exercise your expertise and advise any improvements to my present setup. I must say that your 1388 website is getting better and better with each passing days.

Thank you very much for the support and sorry for the late reply!

The system is well matched. However, it is not giving its best yet.

I would strongly recommend you to have your CD player upgraded by our Clock Upgrade. It will very much improve its definition and clarity. Now we are doing a PCB version and sells for S$200. We no longer offer the build from scratch version from Feb 2001 onwards.

You can try our Audience Maestro cables between the pre and power amplifier. The Hisago cable could be a bottle neck here. For S$300, I suppose it is hard to find other cables that sounds better than Maestro. If money is no concern, then the Au24 will surely do wonders.
