Transport/DAC Modification information

Dear Dr. Jon Wong,

I have the following info pertaining to my Meta-laser transport and Krell Studio 2 DAC :

a) Transport frequency -- 11.2896 MHz
b) DAC frequency -- 34 MHz
c) Output -- Single OP Amp
d) No of OP Amps -- 8 pcs
e) OP Amp No -- 2131p
f) DAC is Burr Brown PCM58P -- Can these be upgraded as well?
g) Digital filter is sealed, therefore it could not be established whether
it is Yamaha or CS -- does this pose any problem in the upgrading exercise?

What are the best recommendations for upgrade?

Lee

Hello Lee,

For the transport, upgrading using our 1388’s exclusive clock will improve the performance many folds. You need the 1ppm low jitter clock for better performance, even though the transport is the Philips CDM1 professional type.

For the DAC, we can custom build one Clock for you.

As for the Op-amp, our recommendations are using the AD797 in the final stages. They are very low noise devices and sounds very musical. AD847 could be overpowering on the Krell Studio.

Happy listening!
