Dear Sirs,

Ibought a second handAV-amp (Nakamichi AV-2) andam looking for:

• an entry level CD player and
• a pair of floor stand speakers (to be placed in the hall)

Also, in the said show, I was alsoimpressed by two pairs of speakers: Robertson DX-7and Qln 606,both are in the $1900 range within my reach.I am at a lost as to which pair to choose. Any recommendation ?

Unfortunately, DVD players do not deliver better sound than dedicated CD players. This is due to the format and the internal system of a DVD player. Despite the 96kHz and 24bit capability, I found my DVD player sounded much worse than my CD player. A very brutal fact. For about S$600, I understand that there are many good choices. Contact me for details please.

You cannot judge a pair of speakers by first impression. Bear in mind that you have to drive the speakers using your Nakamichi AV amp, which is certainly different from what the demo setup was. Also, the room acoustics will be different, your source will be different.

My advise is you should go around Adelphi and compare a few more options. When you are really convinced that the speakers are the ones you want to live with, bring you AV down and see how things are. If you like it, buy it. If not, forget it.
