| Home Trial Service Hi Doctor, Why is it that the Singapore HIFI shops doesn't practice home auditioning considering that there are a lot of HIFI enthusiasts here? With home auditioning, we can definitely find the right equipments that best suit our room size. Any ideas about this? Thanks a lot! Philip |
Hello Philip,In Singapore, the levels of services have not improved that much for many years for some servicing sectors. However, the expectations of Singaporeans have become much higher. This is especially so after so many have lived or visited other developed countries. I think you have to be fair to the dealers. They are very weary of people who might simply return the speaker or the set after using it for sometime. In that case, the dealer is making a loss. A few more of such happenings, he will have to close shop. However, I believe many dealers are improving their services, especially on listening to the customers demands. One good alternative way is to actively watch out for 1388.com activities and build a active 1388.com community. Because of 1388.com, I get to listen to speakers like Genesis 1, Maggies, and the Avalon. I think there is no way the dealers will allow me to borrow them, as I obviously do not look like I would buy these speakers!! If you are genuine about your purchase, you can make a proposal to the prospective dealer. Perhaps you can place a small deposite, pay a small token as ‘rental’ and pay for the transport. In that case, I believe many dealers will agree to let you ‘try out’ first. |
