More not necessary better
Like milk to coffee, there's a limit to the creaminess without clouding the coffee aroma and taste. This is especially for folks who is in no end searching for higher resolution.

A Better Difference
A tweak, component or cable change may give an immediate and noticeable difference. Give yourself time to listen if this is for the better or is it just merely a difference (before forking out your plastic).

Upgrade One at a time
I made this mistake by buying the amp and pre-amp together. Now, I missed the opportunity to tell you how each component sound and perhaps a chance to tune it by mixing and matching.

Leap of Faith
Go to the extend when you're ready to upgrade. Small steps usually result in smaller satisfaction that would not last (half a year perhaps?). Your big steps would stop the itch for long and you'll enjoy longer without fuss.

Listen to others' systems
This is a free chance to learn from other's mistake and wisdom. You'll not know if you've got it until you've listened enough. Be fascinated by folks who got high-end sound from a relatively affordable system and quietly sighing for those vice versa.

Slave & Master
Music is the master and your equipment is the slave. Check if you've one too many test discs and/or audiophile only recordings. If you do, you're skewing towards playing hi-fi only.

Room Doom
We all know that the room/hall factor but we pay lesser attention to it simply due to lack of know-how, not as interested (unlike a fat cable or the shinny amp) or simply lack of power due to the other half.

Your Other Half
You may never convert her but like all women (made of water?), play her that sentimental love song (during courtship?) even though its Richard Marx or Kenny G. Your system will be much more musical after that.
