| | Original Master Recording? Yeah, you would probably think that this is a review of an excellent album previously unacceptable by “audiophile standards”. Well it’s not. It is just a collective personal view of what I have in life and in the search of the ‘Perfect Sound’. Interested? Bored? Well, take my challenge and read on. Ponder about things I have spent countless nights propping up my pillow, suffering from insomnia about. |
| | Love……. Love is… Is something you feel that nobody else can understand. Is an attachment to something you can’t live without. Is the sacrifice that you are willing to give up for things that helps not you but the things you love. Is something out of this world. And the list goes on so long, so long that if I were to go on, I’m afraid I’ll bore you. But well, love is and IS the reason why I’m writing this and hopefully a series of articles that expresses my love for well, the reason why you are reading this in the first place. I am very interested in improving my set-up. However, it saddens me to listen to setups that are way more capable of what they could be rather then what they are doing now. It saddens me too, to listen to setups that are way beyond my reach, capability and that outperforms my system by a considerable amount. But, it gives me a goal and inspiration that goes beyond envy. Which is why I learnt more in seven listening sessions with Joe Lee than I have in my entire life (well, my entire “audio enthusiast” life – I’ll only claim that I’m an audiophile when I am at least half as good as the BIG guy). |
| |
Let’s form a mathematical equation and see how it actually equates. Woman=Music. Lets try to prove it and I invite criticism to it. I have one, political incorrect (My sincere apologies to the small, but considerable number of female audiophiles out there). My theory - An ultimate woman will be one that is: | | | Sexy (shocks you with its incredible magnet), | | | | Intelligent (accurate- to a fault? – Will a man want a spouse more capable than him?), | | | | Voice (the tonal quality), | | | | Capabilities (soundstage width and depth), | | | | Innovative (suitability for wide ranges of music), | | | | Matching to you (coherence) and ultimately, | | | | A Heart (draws you into the music, seduces you like none other can). |
|
| | There are people who loves fashion models, for qualities that I have listed above (not to say that all who are beautiful are stupid and heartless), goes all out to “get” them and am happy until they wish to divorce them (I apologize to people like that, however I’m in no way offensive - I need to prove my point, coz I believe the bulk of audiophiles are people that have a strong affiliation with their hearts). Can you give up a wife who has stood by you in sickness, in debt and in all proper respect-madness (whatever kind, only you can define)? Is it all about the love for the imperfect, the more flawed, the greater your love is? Subjective, I’ll say. Although for certain that, if someone were to love a flawed “it” against a flawless “it”, it is unarguably that the love the former has is greater. Does anybody have flawless system out there? Well, I think not. I have listened to systems which are out of this world – a system with dream equipment (especially the Genesis G1 speakers) that shocks my tongue out of its cavity, a perfect room (well, one that I will die having). BUT, is it the ultimate? Is it the best [THE best I’ve heard (the Genesis G1), so much so that I can’t listen to my system for a week]? NO. There is still room for improvement and there are improvements that an audio enthusiast like me can spot. So, how to get the “perfect” system is like selecting a wife (If you were to know yourself intimately, coupled with the knowledge that you need). X looks for accuracy with highs that extends to the limits and Y looks for something that draws him in and wonderful mids…… The combination of tastes are more diverse than the different types of religions in this world. That is why there are so many types of equipment in this world to cater for different tastes. Ever thought of stuff that people swear by, which you think is a piece of crap? |
| | I hope by my following articles, I can do my bid to help people court the sound they want and achieve their dreams… I am neither a religious person (I have studied extensively in a couple of religions and have opted to remain neutral till the real god touches me) nor an employer of 1388, just that I am moved by the gestures of a great (in a word – a few senses) man, so much so that I am writing this article though I am preparing for my examinations. And that I’ll be more than excited to help with tweaking your system (forgive my feeble skills, though).Quoting the holy bible, “Ask, and you’ll be given.” |
