JoeLeeSaysBig brother Joe has another new invention called "Pavane". Using pictures and drawings, Joe has explained fully its construction, usage and effect in his latest article "Amber Tweak I - Pavane" under "Joe Lee Says".

What is Pavane? To put it simply, it is just another tweaking device made up of amber, crystal and other gemstones. Some people may think that gemstones like amber and crystal are common material easily available, so what is so special about it? True enough, the raw materials may be easy to get so long you are willing to spend, but how about the combination and the guarantee that it will improve the sound of all system? According to Joe, the complicated combination of Pavane is just liking Chinese medicine, a good doctor knows how to pick and mix the right ingredients in a certain proportion, too much or too little of a particular ingredient will result in over-killed or ineffectiveness.

amber exampleSince knowing Joe slightly over a year ago I have been following the trend started by him using amber beads and crystals for tweaking and the effects have been so great that I can never listen to my system without them. Having paid my school fees, I knew the prices of good amber and I also knew that there are too many fake ones around. Thus, if Joe's "Pavane" is really as effective as he claims, then it is truly value for money, or even under valued!

Last week Joe handed me a set for review. As my friendship with Joe was not a secret, I was afraid that readers might think that I was just advertising for him. However, Joe stated that as long as I said what I believe and I only write about the truth, nothing but the truth, I have nothing to fear. Thus, I spent a whole day auditioning Pavane.

My conclusion is...

Simply Incredible! Nothing but fantastic!

As you might have known, I am a die-hard LP fan. Of course I do listen to CD too because since 1990, most record companies has ceased the production of LP and a lot of good and interesting productions are only available in CD format. Nevertheless, my main interest is music, regardless of whether it is LP or CD.

Getting back to the testing of Pavane. As instructed, I placed it on top of my transport right above the tray. I expected some improvement but I didn't anticipate that the improvement would be that great. Usually, CD sounded less musical than LP, but with Pavane, it is unbelievable. Vocal has more feeling, saxophone became juicier, violin sounded smoother, silkier and tender and percussion were punchier. As a whole, everything is much more musical. Replacing Pavane with my original amber bracelet that I have been using before, I have no doubt that Pavane is far more superior in every aspect than my amber bracelet that has cost me more than two hundred dollars. Pavane opened up the whole soundstage as if I have just upgraded my whole system.

It was really awesome. Judging by the sound quality, even if I were to spend a few thousands dollars to upgrade my equipment or cables, I will not be able to achieve the same performance.

For that whole day, I listened to CD entirely and tirelessly. This has never happened before after I have upgraded my LP system. Usually after listening to CD for one to two hours, I have to switch to LP to "smoothen" my ears. I believe the full credit belongs to Pavane for making CD so musical.

I did try to place Pavane in other positions such as preamp, power amp and turntable. Even though the effect is very significant but still not as dramatic as placing on the transport.

I honestly believe that Joe's invention is really a great contribution to the audio field. If your main audio source is digital (i.e. if you listen to CD most of the time), I highly recommend you give Pavane a try.
